Current Institute Projects:

Molecular approaches to understand the host-virus-vector-environment interactions and the management of banana viruses (Co-PI)
Investigation of carbon sequestration, energy budgeting, biodiversity, and production potential of three different banana production ecosystems (Co-PI)

Current External Projects:

Development and utilisation of diagnostics to viruses of banana (Co-PI)
Gene editing to develop resistance against Foc TR4 /race1 and multiple viruses in Grand Nain banana (Co-PI)

Documented several new disease reports of viral diseases (Orthotospoviruses, Potyviruses, Poleroviruses, Criniviruses, Begomoviruses, Tobamoviruses and Cucumber mosaic virus) on different horticultural crops including vegetables
Associated with the development of 5 varieties and hybrids of okra and sponge gourd
Established the LAMP assay for the quick detection of ToLCJoV virus causing leaf curl disease in solanaceous vegetables
Coat proteins of CaCV were expressed in bacterial system and produced polyclonal antisera for diagnosis
Developed IDM module for the management of viral diseases in bitter gourd, chilli, tomato and okra

Awarded Fellow of Indian Society of Vegetable Science (FISVS) for the year 2021
Awarded Himadri Young Scientist Award for the year 2021-22 by the Indian Society of Horticultural Research & Development (ISHRD), Uttarakhand
Awarded “Early Career Award” by DST through SERB with an project entitled “Agroinfectious clones development for probing resistance to chilli leaf curl diseases caused by begomoviruses and devising integrated management strategy” (Budget of 35 lakhs INR)
Awarded with Dr. Harbhajan Singh Memorial Award-2019 for a paper on “Identification of resistant sources against chilli leaf curl virus disease through field and molecular screening in chilli” published in Vegetable Science 46: 17-22
Awarded Best Oral Presentation Award for presentation on “Risk mapping for spread of cucurbits viral diseases using ArcGIS in Uttar Pradesh state, India” in “TNAU Golden Jubilee International Conference - Global Perspectives in Crop Protection for Food Security (GPCP 2021)” (8-10, December, 2021) at TNAU, Coimbatore
