The Sports Contingent of ICAR-NRCB comprising 22staff participated in the ICAR-South Zone Sports Tournament-2024 organized by ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute (SBI), Coimbatore and held at Coimbatorefrom 8-11 April, 2025.The NRCB team was led by Chief-de-mission (CDM), Dr.P. Giribabu, and Manager Dr.K.N. Shiva. Team NRCB competed in Athletic events (Shotput, Long jump, Discuss throw, Javelin throw);Team events (T-10 Cricket, Table Tennis, Badminton) and individual game events (Carrom, Chess and Cycling). NRCB contingent actively participated in the events and showed great sportsmanship. Dr. P. Giribabu secured runner in Chess event second time in a row and our institute secured a spot in medal winner institute list with 3 points. Other notable achievements include NRCB’s maiden victory in T-10 Cricket over ICAR-DPR, Hyderabad in its first round. Women Badminton doubles contingent also registered their victory in the first round. ICAR-NRCB family congratulates the medal winner and all members of sports contingent for bringing the laurels to the institute.
